Carowinds, an amusement park located on the North Carolina and South Carolina border, offers something new each year. In addition to bringing in Charlie Brown and the gang for the kids, Carowinds will unveil The Intimidator roller coaster in 2010. The Intimidator – Newest Roller Coaster at Carowinds Coming in 2010Racing fans and coaster enthusiasts alike will likely be thrilled with The Intimidator, a new roller coaster that Carowinds plans to open in 2010. The new ride, named for Nascar’s Dale Earnhardt, marks Carowinds’s largest investment for a single ride at $23 million. The Intimidator is 23 stories tall or 232 feet up, which makes it the Southeast’s tallest roller coaster, with three of its hills taller than any current coaster in Carowinds. It features a total of seven steep drops, representing Earnhardt’s seven NASCAR championships. Speeds on The Intimidator will reach more than 75 miles per hour, making Carowinds home to the fastest roller coaster in the Southeast. In addition to the drops, twists, and turns, a final diving spiral may have guests thinking they are on a racetrack rather than a roller coaster. The ride lasts for more than three minutes on a track over a mile long, making The Intimidator the Southeast’s longest roller coaster as well. Planet Snoopy – New 2010 Theme for Kids Area at CarowindsNickelodeon Central, Carowinds’s 12-acre children’s area will enjoy a new Peanuts theme with the arrival of Charlie Brown and Snoopy and their friends. Planet Snoopy will offer guests the chance to see and enjoy characters based on Charles Shultz’s Peanuts comic strip.
